CUENTOS CORTOS (SHORT STORIES)

Cuentos Cortos (Short Stories) is El Chaleco de Elodie's debut album. It's a double, bi-lingual album consisting of 9 original songs in both their English and Spanish versions.

The songs were inspired by a collection of short stories written by Juanita Ozamiz  while she was living in a small village in the foothills of the Andes in northern Chile, hence the title.

Amongst other themes, including the origin of the band´s name ('The Ballad of Elodie's Jumper'), the songs tell of what it feels like to be a stranger in a strange land ('Floating'), to feel homesick (the melancholy 'Blast From The Past'), as well as recounting anecdotes from the village (the more up-beat 'Poor Cow' and 'Sister Cecilia'). The haunting 'The Memories Have Gone' was written after the earthquake and tidal wave that hit Chile in February 2010.

Cuentos Cortos (Short Stories) takes us on a journey through a variety of musical styles - from swing to ballads, from country to reggae - incorporating subtle elements of Latin American music into the overall 'Anglo' sound.
